Valentina Baby (Brenda Mariana Gonzalez) is an LA-based bilingual Mexican-American singer, songwriter and producer whose music spans sensual contemporary R&B/soul, dream pop and alternative pop/rock. Her work delves into the profound emotions of human experience, often contrasting vulnerable lyricism with bright, dreamy melodies that capture the chaotic, turbulent phases of relationships. Embracing her multifaceted nature, Valentina also explores sensual, dark femininity through influences of jazz, Spanish music and rock. Her raw, unfiltered storytelling along with her sound is reminiscent of artists like SZA, Alina Baraz and Kali Uchis.

Raised in Mexico, Valentina immersed herself in art, music, songwriting and poetry from a young age. It was these creative outlets that helped her navigate new emotional and physical challenges of different countries and cultures, as she frequently relocated during her childhood and throughout her adulthood. It was during middle school, however, that she began playing and writing on the guitar, and by high school she had established herself as a skilled performer, winning numerous school singing competitions. At 17, she co-founded the local rock band Etc Etc, where she collaborated on original compositions and toured surrounding cities. In 2020, Valentina joined and toured with the established Mexican rock band Los VeryJones before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue formal education in vocal jazz, music business and music production.

Here, Valentina honed her skills in jazz, classical, and pop vocal techniques, as well as solo performance, improvisation, choral music, music theory, piano, guitar, and drums. She remains an active participant in jazz combos, performing in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French. In 2022, she received a Vocal Jazz Scholarship, and she completed her Associates Degree in Music Business in 2024. Elected participant in the 2024 PCC Songwriter Showcase, she made her live debut with her first single, “Sweetness,” at Westerbeck Recital Hall in May 2024.

Currently, Valentina can be found creating original music, songwriting, producing, and co-directing her upcoming music videos and projects. She occasionally performs jazz shows and private events across various venues in LA. Her latest release, “Olvido,” is a bilingual, contemporary r&b track that highlights her inventive musicality, warm, sweet vocals and experimental spirit. Her forthcoming EP titled "Valentina Baby" is a deep dive into her life experience and is set to be released in winter, 2025.
